Close Protection Training

Course Outline in respect of close protection training course as recognised by the BCUC and SIA. The close protection-training course has been devised based on a combination of both Police and Military close protection training courses, together with experience gained within the private sector in relation to close protection. The designees of the course have many years of experience in relation to close protection and hold official home office qualifications in relation to the subject matter.

The course is run over a 21 day training period, 25 should the student require the first aid training module, which involves both classroom theory input, together with practical training scenarios. The student initially is led through the theory of the specific lesson within the classroom environment; this is then reinforced by way of practical training scenarios where the student puts the theory into practice. Experienced and qualified trainers in the field conduct the courses.

The students are assessed by way of question and answer during the classroom sessions, together with assessment during practical training scenarios. The final assessment of the student, is both theory based with a written examination and on a practical front, by way of a final exercise in which the students set up and run a close protection operation.

The course confirms to the content as required by the SIA regulations, in respect to National Occupational Standards in relation to close protection training. The below is a guide to the training manual and course content in reference to the specific headings as directed by the SIA.

The Extra Mile Group training program in relation to close protection covers all required fields as outlined below. The Extra Mile Group offers the below training, either as part of, or in addition to the Close Protection Course as described.

A full written Training Performance Record will be issued to the student on the conclusion of each module. Students reaching the required standards at the culmination of each module will also be issued with an Extra Mile Group certification specifying both the skills and abilities achieved by the student within that module.

On successful completion of this course students can be assured that they have the confidence and credibility to enter the field of Personal Security. In addition you will be certified that in the opinion of the Extra Mile Group instructional staff, that you now have the ability to work operationally within the security industry with motivation and at the highest of professional standards as a Close Protection Operative.

Finally you will achieve the satisfaction that you have undertaken the most demanding and professionally run courses available in the private sector for this type of work and will be able to show to potential employers (and colleagues) by way of your Training Performance Records, the high standards you have already attained.

This course is run both in the UK and the United States allowing the student to gain experience Internationally. This is an intense course culminating in a final exercise where all skills learned will be put to the test.

The Extra Mile Group staff will endeavour, where possible, to assist with students travel arrangements for those who have to attend by way of public transport. (Details supplied on request).

Training undertaken within the US includes all flights and car hire and accommodation but not meals.

Students would be expected to bring with them suitable clothing appropriate for the training undertaken within the chosen module. Advice on such matters will be included within the pre-read package. The supply and usage of vehicles required for the operational needs of the course will be included within the course fee.

As stated, students undertaking the Modular Training will receive comprehensive pre-read notes, together with a suitable binder once their full course fee has been processed. The notes will form the basis of the theory within the module undertaken. It is intended that these notes be studied in some depth prior to the commencement of the training. This will enable more time for practical applications of those tactics and techniques explained within them. This manual should accompany students attending each module. Failure to do so may render the student ineligible to undertake training. These Modules can be physically and mentally demanding so a general high standard of personal fitness is required to benefit from the training undertaken.
